5/10/17:  EVENT CANCELLED
Due to a powerful nor'easter predicted for this weekend, it is with much regret that we announce the cancellation of Sir Wilhelm's Hastilude & Demo III.

Unfortunately, there is no raindate, but we hope to have it again next year.  If you know someone who was planning to come, please pass this cancellation around.  Thank you.

~ Vienna & Wilhelm, autocrats

5/9/17 Update:  EQUESTRIAN EVENTS CANCELLED!
Due to the revised weather forecast and for safety reasons, we are cancelling the equestrian portion of the event now.

It is highly likely the entire event will be cancelled, but we will announce it formally tomorrow.

5/8/17 update:  Please know that we are monitoring the weather for Hastilude very closely.  They are predicting a strong Nor'Easter for Saturday and Sunday.  There is a good chance that we will have to cancel the event; however, we will make that decision later this week to see how the storm develops or changes course.  Announcements will be made here, on the event and EK facebook pages.

*** We are sharing the site with the Lion's Club Flea Market on Saturday until about noon.  We encourage all to be good stewards and chatelaines of the SCA.  ***

---Armored Combat Tourney---
Unto the unbelted fighters of the East I, Sir Wilhelm von Ostenbruke, do send greetings.  I invite you all to enter my “Sir Wilhelm’s Ironman Challenge!” I created this tourney with the sole purpose of giving the unbelted fighters of the East the opportunity to show off their fighting prowess against the Order of the Chivalry.  My Brothers and Sisters of the Order I call on you to come out and get all of the fighting your hearts could ever desire.  I truly need you to make this tourney succeed.  The tourney has two parts, a singles fighting part and a melee part.  Fighters are encouraged to form a team, per the guidelines below, prior to the event and use a little strategy.  The tourney is as follows:

Part 1:
This was inspired by the scoring system of Birka but with my own twist.  The Chivalry will hold the lists with various weapons forms.  The unbelts will challenge the Knight/Master and enter their list (preferably with matched weapons but not required) and fight three fights.  You will receive 1 point for the fight, 1 point for a win and a bonus point for defeating a royal peer (if applicable).  I know this may come as a surprise but the Chiv are only human so they will be rotated out of the various lists to make sure you all have fresh fights.  This will go on for two hours.  At the end of the two hours there will be a short 30 minute water break/rest and then on to the next stage.

Part 2:
Melee baby!  This part will consist of 5 person melee teams fighting round robin like Balfar’s Challenge.  Each team can consist of no more than 2 members of the Chiv or 1 royal peer.  A team will receive a single point for the win.  This part will run for two hours.

Scoring:
At the end of the day the point totals of the of the 5 team members, from both tourney parts, will be tallied up and the highest team score wins the day.

This event will be right at the beginning of the melee season so should be a great test to see where your endurance lies.  My only regret is that I will be running the tourney instead of fighting with you all.  If anyone has any questions or needs any clarification, please send me an email.

---Equestrian Tourney---
Please contact Mistress Eleanor fitzPatrick (Patricia Cross), Equestrian tourney sponsor & Equestrian Marshal for the event, for more information at trish@joustinghill.org.

---Archery Tourney---
The archery tourney will be comprised of various novelty targets at unknown distances, sure to test the skills of all archers.  Practice / warm-up will begin about 11:00 am to 1:00 pm or there about.  The tournament to begin shortly after.  The time length of the tourney will be determined by the number of shooters participating.  Note.  There will be no royal rounds or loaner gear.

Two prizes will be awarded after the tourney.  First prize for highest score and the second prize to be determined by the marshal in charge.

Contact Lord Omelan of the Left, archery tourney sponsor, for more information at newhewhen@aol.com

---Artisan's Row---
This site offers a perfect opportunity for an SCA demo.  We would encourage those who are willing and able to teach or show a craft to please join us in showing our art and our hobbies off!  There is ample room to setup a period pavilion or to grab a little space under someone else's.

If you are willing to donate your time, skills, and expertise, please contact Mistress Renye Wurm at Wurm55@juno.com or THL Rhode Kephalaina at Rhodekephalaina@gmail.comto schedule time/space in the Artisan's Row.

---Roving Chatelaines---
This site offers a perfect opportunity for an SCA demo.  While everyone can be a chatelaine at the event, we would like to have a few designated people wearing buttons identifying them as people the public can talk to about the SCA.  We would encourage those who are willing and able to contact Mistress Vienna de la Mer at viennademer@gmail.com.
