Event details

In his die, Carolingia castellum est!  You may have heard tell that Carolingia is a state of mind, but today it is also very much a place.  Welcome to our village, where you will find games, arts, sport, food, and dancing in our warm and friendly hall.  Spend the day with your neighbors and celebrate all that makes Carolingia what it is, from our very young to our most venerable.

- Listen to tales of Carolingia, including the artful and hilarious Carolingiad
- Gather with our artisans for an Arts and Sciences salon, where you may ply your craft in company
- Bring a first attempt to our "New Skills" A&S Display (see below)
- Learn and play historical games in our main hall, where families and children are encouraged to play together
- Try your hand at archery and thrown weapons (weather permitting)
- Listen the performers of Carolingia, throughout the day and at the competition for Baronial Performer
- Join us for a warm and comfortable village supper at the end of the day; supper will be served at 5 to make it easier for our youngest denizens and their families to stay.  Off-board seating will also be available in the same hall for those who wish to share in our company but do not wish to partake of our board.

Details:
- Archery and thrown weapons will be available from 10:30-12:30, weather permitting.  Participants must be at least five years of age.

- Performers of all kinds are welcome during the day; please contact Dreda at molly.eskridge@gmail.com if you would like to perform!

- For those wishing to compete for the position of Baronial Performer, please review the Champions' Agreement:  https://carolingia.eastkingdom.org/the-barony/champions/
Please note that the Baron and Baroness request a competition piece of five minutes or less that is period or in a period style.

- For the A&S display, please bring something that shows your first completed project of a new learning endeavor!  Proudly show off your work, even if it is something small and simple – trying something for the first time and sticking with it to complete the project is something we would like to celebrate with everyone no matter what the piece!  Documentation is not required, but you are welcome to include a short description on what prompted you to embark on this new learning experience, what it taught you along the way, and what your next steps might be.  We welcome entrants of all ages.

Not sure if your piece qualifies? When in doubt, show it off!  Didn’t actually finish? We are still happy to have it!  Have a few test tries before you complete anything? Bring them too as part of your documentation/description!  We want you to be proud of your accomplishments and have everyone see them!

Also, if you are looking to learn something new while at the village event, please stop by and try your hand at making a token to leave for the artisans who have chosen to display their works.
